We are in a world controlled by the mind of a Mad Doctor, where survivors are forced to live underground in shelter of “noise killing machines” scattered around woods, rivers and valleys by the Doctor’s Mind. Population put up resistance and two soldiers are charged by the command to exit into the world and look for the machines to take off some bits and analyse them in the subterranean laboratory. Unfortunately the Doctor’s mind is omnipresent and soon a simple mission becomes a tragedy…

Protocollo 77 is a sci-fi short film made in Italy in September 2010 which is in finalization stage at the moment. The project is realized by the cultural association NEDAC in collaboration with Controllo Zeta.

The soundtrack features italian composer Marticus & its Useless Devices: it is a trip into classical sci-fi horror movies of the 70s and will be released soon by the label Ginotonico Production. Click here for the demo song “Run Doctor Run!” (free download).

“Future earth has forgotten God. Science and technology reign supreme. A benevolent government banishes hunger, poverty, and disease and provides a luxurious lifestyle for an ever-increasing population. However, even science has its limits, and the world faces a crisis of diminishing resources. Dr. Deborah Tennyson, a brilliant mathematician, devises the only answer for mankind: Discover new resources through the Interdimensional Transport Protocol (ITP). A brash, self-centered, but remarkably talented astropilot, Major David Sanders, takes the responsibility of making the first ITP flight and determining the fate of the earth. Will he find the fame he so desperately craves or much more? Sanders’ journey through interdimensional space takes him to a world he could never imagine and a spiritual destiny he could never expect.”

“Future Hope” author David Gelber weaves an imaginative life for the characters as they struggle to cope with the turmoil of an overcrowded planet. From the mind numbing tunnel vision of the politicians taking charge of the ITP program all the way to a version of the original eden not fallen from grace. “Future Hope” has enough substance together with a grand scale conflict to carry the readers interest throughout the entire book.

“This book is a bit of man leveraging science in pursuit of new lands to exploit and a parallel dimension creationism story mixed into an intergalactic smoothie.”

At some points the plot stretches a little further then I like to go when talking about eden in other dimensions and how language and the local’s intentions would differ. Still I felt compelled to read through the entire book follow the main character David as he is lost in space on eden like planet, while his horse betting friend Joshua and the mathematician Deborah are trying to figure out if he is really alive. “Future Hope” brings together a ton of futuristic ideas into a digestible plot. Check out “Future Hope” and come back and let me know what you think!
